well i had an "interview" at my local volunteer fire department last wednesday....turns out that "interview" was more like a welcoming talk, i became a fire fighter that day!:D so far i only had two calls, one that night, and monday morning at 1:40am GMT-4 if you can figure that out.......but it's something really exciting, that i enjoy now. if anything comes along i'll make sure to tell ya

Well, if you ever learn the answer, please reveal why whenever anything happens the firefighters are always there. Somebody robs a gas station, they're there, someone abuse a cat, they're there, a couple gets into a serious arguement, they're are there, watching the police ignore whatever it is the guy has to say(cause it's so totally his fault). I don't get it. Maybe it's just here though, but I'm thinking they're bored.

tonight it was a sprinkler alarm in the building just behind us could've been a fire so we took the trucks and waited for what i don't excatly know but yea no fire some how the fire alarm and sprinklers were going off, i was on the second truck that left the station so it was all good :)

I hear a lot of fire trucks zooming past where I live everday like atleast 2/3 times each day and you'd think that the whole city burned to the ground. So are there a lot of false calls or are they just minor fires?

tell ya the truth, there aren't that much calls round here since i started last wednesday i only had 3 calls, and they were all between the timeframe of 11:30pm and 2:00am, i guess that's why all the fire departments where i live is volunteer, monday morning for me there was a little fire that could've gotten a building going, but half the time it's either they just need one truck or they send 3-4 out it really depends on what the call is, like this morning i had 4 leave the station but i only seen 3 where i was at

lol yea had another call at about 6:15am, it was another fire alarm going off at another store, i made it there early enough to ride on the first truck that rolled out, but i didn't have proper training for the BA (Breathing Apperatis) like i don't know how to use it at all >_<, anywho from what i'm told it was a false alarm cause nothing happened there.

well here's another update

as i said in the what kfc are you doing right now thread, i got home from work and a fire....here's the story

i was just sitting at work waiting for the rents to pick me up, and my pager goes off and says that there is a car fire in a parking lot just not too far away so i run from work still in my uniform >_> and sprinted to the station (which is only like 2 buildings away) i make first but since i still don't have the BA training i was put on the second truck.

we get there and the fire was pretty much out, just the radiatior fluid and some smoke coming out of the engine was left to take care of. it was simple enough for me atleast....:P
